The Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) pre-application ballot aims to give eligible people from Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste equal access to the PEV. The ballot provides a fair and transparent process by randomly selecting people to apply for the visa. It makes sure there is equal access for people of any skill level, occupation and gender.
The Australian Government will allocate up to 3000 visa places per year, which includes partners and dependent children.
To be able to apply for the Pacific Engagement visa (subclass 192), you must first register in the PEV ballot. If you are randomly selected in the PEV ballot, you can then apply for the visa. To find out if you can register in the ballot, see Ballot eligibility.
There is a ballot registration fee of AUD25.
The PEV process
- Ballot opens
Each participating country will have a separate ballot. The department will publish details of each ballot on the PEV Country Ballot Status page. - Register in the ballot
When a ballot is open, eligible citizens can submit a registration through ImmiAccount. You cannot register before or after this period. - Ballot selection (selected)
After the ballot registration period closes, the department will run a selection process for each participating country. The ballot selection period (open and close dates) for when the random selection of registrations will occur for each participating country ballot will be shown on the PEV Country Ballot Status page. The department will send randomly selected participants a Notification of Selection letter. - Apply for the visa
Selected participants can use the link provided in the Notification of Selection letter to apply. An application must be submitted on or before the invitation expiry date provided in the letter.
