Help to leave Australia

There are many reasons for leaving Australia:

  • The situation in your home country has changed.
  • Your visa options have ended.
  • Your visa does not allow employment.
  • You want to return to your family and friends.

Whatever your situation, you can leave Australia at any time.

If you do not hold a visa, or your visa has expired while you are in Australia, you must leave Australia.

Help is available for eligible non-citizens to leave Australia voluntarily through the Return and Reintegration Assistance Program (RRAP).

There are advantages in leaving voluntarily:

  • You get more choice about how and when you leave.
  • You can leave with dignity.
  • You can benefit from support.

Types of support

The help you might receive:

  • confidential return counselling and information
  • help arranging travel documents and/or a passport
  • help booking your flight home.

You might also be eligible for help after you depart to:

  • find work
  • get skills training and education
  • start a small business
  • find accommodation.

Who to contact

RRAP service providers can give you information and support about how you can depart. You can contact them directly:

Departure counselling is independent of all government processes. It does not affect any ongoing immigration matters you have with us.
