Learn about employing migrants

You are considered to be an employer if you:

  • hire visa holders through a labour hire or referral (recruitment) company 
  • contract workers in other ways as the taxi, construction, hospitality, cleaning and sex industries do

Employers are responsible for employing only people who are legally allowed to work in Australia.

Include a clause in your contract with the labour hire or referral company that states they must only supply workers who are legally allowed to work.
