The National Community Hubs Program (NCHP) provides tailored, in community support to refugees migrants and humanitarian entrants. It focuses on empowering women and their families.
Community Hubs are based in primary schools. They connect families with each other, their community, and support services. They are welcoming, culturally safe spaces where people can:
- participate in range of programs and activities
- develop new skills
- increase confidence
- make friends.
The Program focuses on four priority areas:
- Engaging and connecting families.
- Preparing children for school.
- Building English language skills.
- Building pathways to volunteering and employment.
There are currently 100 government funded community hubs in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.
The government has funded Community Hubs Australia to deliver and expand the NCHP to 125 hubs nationally. This will include new regions such as Tasmania, the Northern Territory and more sites in regional Queensland.
