Lodging an application – refugee and humanitarian visas

An application for a Refugee and Humanitarian visa is an application for all 5 Refugee and Humanitarian visas: subclasses 200, 201, 202, 203 and 204. If you meet the requirements of one of the subclasses, we will grant you a visa in that subclass.

If you do not have a proposer

If you do not have a proposer, you may be eligible for a Refugee category subclass 200, 201, 203 or 204 visa.

To find out how to apply, see the step-by-step guide at Subclass 200, 201, 203 and 204 Refugee category visas.

Apply online via ImmiAccount.

We give priority to applicants who have been:

  • referred to Australia for resettlement by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), or
  • certified as locally engaged employees (LEE) by the Australian Government.

If you have a proposer

If you have a proposer (for example, a family member in Australia), you may be eligible for a Global Special Humanitarian visa or a Refugee category visa under the split family provisions.

You must be:

  • outside your country of origin when you apply, or
  • proposed by an immediate family member (spouse, partner, child or parent if the applicant is aged under 18). The proposer must hold a Global Special Humanitarian visa (subclass 202), a Refugee category visa (subclasses 200, 201, 203 or 204), a Protection visa (subclass 866) or a Resolution of Status visa (subclass 851).

To find out how to apply, see the step-by-step guide at Subclass 202 Global Special Humanitarian visa.
